Read and listen to this report from NPR's Julie McCarthy on Brazilian Tribes Fighting a Dam. This story has replayed itself in different ways all over the globe over the centuries. The people's struggle against "progress".
I help grow resilient entrepreneurs and community leaders and share my experience with those that help others. My deep areas of focus include culturally appropriate leadership, entrepreneurship, and community development. In order to be the change we wish to see in the world, I believe we must stay awake, have an open mind and a good heart, organize ourselves to be resilient stewards, and work with others to be more self-reliant and advance the greater good. My career experience includes directing a community-based entrepreneurship development collaborative, directing a regional office of a community development financial institution, research and teaching cultural and applied anthropology, extensive ethnographic research, and a variety of work with small businesses, nonprofits, and philanthropic organizations. My first job was working in our family's retail hardware store. I am in Raleigh, North Carolina. Contact me at johnparker@nc.rr.com
